Government IT Projects In A Mess - Cable

Foreign Office IT projects are more than £100m over budget, according to figures obtained by the Liberal Democrats

Commenting, Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor, Vince Cable MP said:

"These figures confirm the mess the Government is in over IT projects.

"The fact the Foreign and Commonwealth Office is 20% over budget on its Visa Biometrics project does not bode well for ID cards.

"The Government's record on IT projects is appalling, ministers should investigate why this record is so shocking.

"Until this is done it would be utter madness to go ahead with further large IT projects such as ID cards."
