Treasury Is Wasting Money On Expensive London Offices
12.20.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 19th Apr 2004
Commenting on today's publication of Public Expenditure Statistical Analyses, showing 11,000 more staff in Central Government than last year, Vincent Cable MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor, said: "It is staggering that the Treasury claims to need over a thousand civil servants in London, all of them occupying expensive office space."
"Hundreds of millions of pounds a year could be saved if Central Government was slimmed down and moved out of London."
