Job Outsourcing: Britain Needs A New Place in the Sun
5.08.24pm GMT Thu 4th Dec 2003
Commenting on reports from the Communication Workers Union that 50,000 service jobs have been moved to India over the past two years, Malcolm Bruce MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Trade & Industry Secretary, said:"The Unions are setting themselves against the wind of change in the global economy when they protest against graduates in India securing jobs to help their developing country. In the current cost-conscious climate, complaints will fall on deaf ears.
"The Unions would be better advised to help industry improve productivity and competitiveness so the British workforce has the added values to attract new investment in the UK economy.
"Britain needs to invest in its workforce, and in new innovative products if we are to maintain our place in the sun.
