Trade Deal Is a Sticking Plaster Solution - Lamb

7.20.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 5th Sep 2005

Commenting on the trade deal struck between the EU and China, Liberal Democrat Shadow Trade and Industry Secretary, Norman Lamb MP said: "This is a sticking plaster solution. The consequence of this deal is that the trade crisis has been deferred. It has not been solved.

"By transferring a proportion of China's trade quota from next year to this year, we are certain to face an exacerbated situation in twelve months.

"A more comprehensive approach from the EU towards trade liberalisation is needed."
